St. Sophia

21st Sunday After Pentecost

The Parable of the Sower

Begin with a Prayer

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

The Story and Discussion

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  1. Did you ever plant a seed like the farmer in the parable? Did it grow?
  2. The farmer planted seeds on four kinds of soil. What happened to the seeds on the path? On the rocks? The weeds? The good soil?
  3. What do the seeds in the story stand for?
  4. You hear God’s words at Church and at home. What kind of “soil” are you? Do you hear and obey God’s words?

Closing Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you amongst women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
